Zika virus infection during pregnancy can harm growth of brain  in the baby

Zika virus infection during pregnancy is a cause of congenital microcephaly and serious brain abnormalities. Zika virus is transmitted primarily through the bite      of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes. Most reported transmissions have been from persons with symptomatic Zika virus infections, including from men to female partners. 

Women of reproductive age who have had or anticipate future Zika virus exposure who do not want to become pregnant should use the most effective contraceptive method that can be used correctly and consistently.
